Legal Resources

For those folks who want to do a bit of research on their own, who are looking for an attorney or who have questions about the law or the legal system, the following links may be of help.

The State Bar of California offers a Public Services page which contains forms and pamphlets, allows you to research basic information about an attorney, guides you to attorney referral services and much more.

The Alameda County Bar Association website also contains a page of information and guidance for the public.  Here you can find information about referrals to attorneys in specific legal areas, legal services for low-income people, Alternative Dispute Resolution (how to solve a dispute short of a lawsuit) and attorney-client fee disputes.

California Judicial Council Forms are mandatory for use in most state court filings.  You may obtain the proper forms from any county court clerk’s office, or you may download blank forms or fill out the forms on your screen and print them by clicking here.

California Statutes This page offers a searchable database of all of the statutes contained in California’s 29 codes, from the Business & Professions Code through the Welfare and Institutions Code.
